How's the game design program?

I visited Drexel the other day and I love it, however, I didn't see any of the classrooms where any computer classes are taught. Is the program good? Are there any schools that do it better? Also how's the e-sports club/team here?

GDAP is good. It's still finding it's footing as far as which classes are necessary and getting teachers for them. In general though the professors know a lot about the industry and are very passionate. If you want to take it further, you can join the Entrepreneurial Game Studio, which is some of the best game designers in the city if we're being honest. The program is still a lot of art/cgi and not as much theory as maybe it should have, but it's constantly getting better.

I'm going into game design and i think I want to minor in comp sci. Is that common and or a good idea for GDAP?

Current GDAP major here. The major is more design-oriented, but if you do a major in Comp Sci you can do game concentrations and tracks. You can join the Drexel Game Developers Group but you need a portfolio for Entrepreneurial Game Studio. The co-op offerings for GDAP are a little hard to get depending on what you want to do. There's plenty of programming/UI/sometimes 3D art in Philly, but there's other aspects of game design that you have to look elsewhere for to get a co-op, like 2D art.

Well, USC and RIT for their game design programs are like top in my (and many other's books, including a bunch of websites). But Drexel's co op is a huge edge, and it's close to RIT when it comes to game design, so it's high up there as well. (I'm a newbie too)

Overwatch game lead for Drexel here. Our esports are decent-good but not the best. It's got the school's backing and been on a steady rise. Great players is the main lacking point. You can join the discord server here: https://discord.gg/KpCn7aA

Current GDAP student.

Depends what you want out of the program, your college experience, and how motivated you are to learn stuff yourself.
