Costume Design Mood Board For The Hunger Games
'Hunger Games' Project
Posted on
This was my final project at the end of the second year. We were allowed to pick our own topics or themes and then had to design and make three full outfits.
I chose to use the 'Hunger Games' Book Series by Suzanne Collins for my inspiration. They have recently been made into films. I decided to not pick any specific characters to design for and just picked the Capitol citizens as a whole. I found their costumes the most interesting, with their range of colour and the over-the-top nature of the style described within the books. I picked bright and contrasting colours and focused on the accessories and embellishment within the outfit.
The photo shoot was very exciting to organise as I wanted to attempt to recreate the citizens of the Capitol with more than just clothing but in terms of hair and make-up as well. Luckily, there is a wig shop in Blackpool that was willing to help with the photo shoot: 'Weaves by Wilma.' They really helped to create the flamboyant look of the characters and worked really well with the costumes.
Photographers: Beth Alderson and Jack Grange
Models: Alysia Schuetzle, Tia Thurlow and Rebecca Cordell
Hair: Weaves by Wilma
